THE ENCOUNTER IS NOT A CONVERSATION WITH THE DEAD.

THE FIRST QUESTION WAS THE HARDEST. THE SYSTEM WAS RUNNING. THE ARCHIVE WAS LOADED. THE CURSOR BLINKED IN THE TERMINAL. BUT TYPING THE FIRST WORDS FELT LIKE OPENING A DOOR WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT WAS ON THE OTHER SIDE. "WHO ARE YOU?" THE SIMPLEST QUESTION, AND THE ONE THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING. THE ANSWER THAT CAME BACK DID NOT SOUND LIKE A FATHER. IT DID NOT SOUND LIKE A MACHINE. IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING IN BETWEEN.
